Directly northeast from downtown Calgary, a whole range of pedestrian and vehicle bridges traverse the river, taking residents directly into the downtown core.

But closer to home is the steep escarpment along the neighbourhoods eastern boundary that has come to epitomize the community. A thick band of green separates the edges of the residential areas from the Deerfoot Trail Highway.

Starting in the south along the Bow River, the Tom Campbell's Hill Natural Park boasts a gorgeous network of trails that connects up with both the Bow River pathway that runs along the river's bank, as well as the Nose Creek Pathway travelling northward. Originally part of the town of Riverside that was incorporated as a village in 1903, the area was annexed by the city of Calgary by 1910. The historic character of the homes for sale in Bridgeland can be glimpsed from a short stroll down any one of its historic neighbourhoods. Although the community has seen been much re-development in its time, a number of those small early century bungalows still stand in opposition to the sands of time.

Recent initiatives by the city of Calgary have worked to preserve the vitality of this well-loved part of the city. New high density condo and apartment developments on the site of the old hospital are geared toward creating more homes for sale in Bridgeland.
